We’re Golden!

By |September 19th, 2013|

"Yesterday when you were young everything you needed done was done for you. Now you do it on your own, what can you do?" This was how we felt last week when our departure was delayed yet again, due to truck trouble. It felt a bit like GA was letting us know that she did not want to let go of us. Well, to continue the metaphor, this week we punched her in the throat and didn't feel a bit bad doing it. In reality we used the down time to finish tying up loose ends. We had new carpet installed throughout the house, put a fresh coat of paint on most of the walls, bought a new memory foam mattress for Atreyu, visited Zoo Atlanta, and enjoyed some time outside. We also hit up our favorite and closest restaurant Aqua Terra, a free plug for the free bread spread! Thanks girls. Seriously, they serve fantastic food and are great people. We love Aqua Terra! If you are ever in the Buford area, it really is the only place to have a great lunch at a great price. The cheesecake alone is worth the drive. But, the rig is fixed and awaiting our departure and the house is ready to be sold! Any offers? Yup, Georgia grabbed on to us and we both turned around and punched her in the face! Kids you should never punch anyone, unless they grab ahold of you and won't let you go! We are not taking anymore of Georgia's, um kudzu. This week was all about teamwork. The bottom line is that we are now even more ready for a long term departure than we were before, and we [...]

Like A Local

By |September 8th, 2013|

We have been working hard finalizing our lives in perpetual motion. Everything is in working order, even a few broken surprises left from the original owners. We found some time to do a little local eating and coffee drinking. The dirty iced chai was worth the drive! The hardest part for both of us is the slimming and re-slimming of the books. Having no standing bookshelves is going to force us back on the kindle! There is some nostalgia that will be missed that can only be found in the musky smell and earmarked pages of a good old fashion three dimensional book. Anyway we are truck bound and rolling with the punches. Round one might just go to the universe.

The Ultimate Stache

Guess what I've been secretly working on? No, it's not an early start for movember. We thought what better way to cruise through the RV parks than with a sexy looking Man-Truck. I can hear you now, then why the hell did you spend money on that hairy thing? All I can say is after a few beers and a conversation about the sex of our vehicle, we clicked on the "place in shopping cart" button and never spoke about it again. That was until this afternoon when a giant mustache arrived on our doorstep! What a magical time we live in. Atreyu is going to love it!

One for the man!

There is social conditioning being ingrained into us about preparing for retirement, and that we should have started our saving years ago! Let me start off by stating that I'm not a financial adviser, which translates to, by following my advice you most likely will never become wealthy. At least not financially. So, if you are looking for more printed paper to inflate your bank numbers then please feel free to ignore this post completely. Now, for those who are still reading I would like to introduce you to perhaps a new idea, mini-retirement!  Mini-retirements are not the same as a “for life retirement”. We have found that you can cash out, go live your dreams, and then return to do it all over again. This is possible and with a little sacrifice can be done by virtually anyone. Don’t put off your dreams until you "life retire", because you will probably feel to old to fully enjoy it. For those of you who are already of said age, remember travel does not have to be as extreme as driving a 5th wheel over the Rockies, it can be as simple as visiting the local farmers market and getting a little lost on the drive home. Travel is a state of mind and is not a State you can drive to. While you are alive try not to forget to live!

Everyone has to eat!

I know what you are thinking, didn't they just get back from traveling? Don't they have to work like everyone else? The answers to both are yes! We just choose to live a little more unconventional than the rest. We are about to live in and work out of a truck. How much more unconventional can we get? As long as there are good pizza and cold micro-brews out there how bad can it be!
