Lost Dutchman State Park

Apache Junction, Arizona

Website:  http://azstateparks.com/Parks/loDU/index.html

Overview:  A great campground less than an hour from downtown Phoenix.  It is surrounded by federal public land so it is very quiet and dark.  The lights of greater Phoenix are visible at night but they do not hamper the night sky!  This park sits beside the majestic Superstition Mountain and thus offers wonderful views and great hiking.  The campsites are spacious and well maintained.  We really enjoyed our stay here.

Campsites:  Level paved sites with 30/50 amp and water. Spacious sites with good views, picnic table, grill, and fire pit.

Amenities: Camp store; dump station, bathhouses, hiking/biking trails, and weekly ranger lead activities

Pet friendly: Yes, allowed on all hiking trails.

Internet:  No public Wi-Fi available, but great cellular signals.

Price:  $25/night ($5 reservation fee)

Rating: 4.5/5
